Sunday
8am breakfast and 9am picked up at your riad hotel by our guides. Depart Marrakesh and drive to the village of Imlil (1,740m) in the atlas mountains, where our adventure on foot begins. Trekking along the Mizane Valley to the village of Aremd (1,900m) we visit the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. We continue our trek to the base of Toubkal and our accommodation for the night, Toubkal refuge. Sited at 3600m, it boasts spectacular views across the valley.
Day 3
Monday
Summit of Mt Toubkal
Breakfast at 1am, head torches on and it’s an early morning start leaving at 2 am to the summit of Jebel Toubkal. Our route takes us up the south cirque, a steep climb across scree and rock that will lead us to the summit which takes around 3/4 hrs to reach. With panoramic view stretching as far south as the Sahara.
We then retrace our steps back down the mountain to the refuge for a beautiful breakfast and some down time before heading back down the valley staying the night with our mountain village friends at Aremd (1,900m). We expect it to take around 10 to 11 hours.
We will be treated to a traditional Moroccan celebration meal with local dancers for the evening.
Day 4
Tuesday
After a beautiful traditional breakfast we will go for a village walk and morning swim to the secret waterfalls before trekking a short distance back down the valley to Imlil where we meet our transport and drive back to Marrakech to enjoy hot showers before exploring the spice-scented souks of Marrakesh.
Distance 2km
Drive + 1hr 30min
That evening, you will be treated to a celebration dinner and dancing as you receive your summit certificates.
Day 5
Wednesday
Few choices – Relax with an early morning walk around Marrakesh soaks or enjoy an early morning traditional Marakesh Hamman for €35 or an early morning sunrise hot air balloon experience (pick up 5.30am and back at hotel for 11am to meet transport to airport) flying over the Atlas Mountains, with a lavish Moroccan breakfast on landing at an extra cost of €175.

How fit do I need to be?
This is not a technical climb, and you don’t need any experience, but having a certain level of physical hiking fitness helps.
I'm coming by myself, who would be in the group?
Nearly 50% of our customers book to travel solo. The average group size is 6-10 on this trip and an average age of around 25-65 but this can vary.
How hot or cold will it be?
Spring / Autumn are best to do this trip as the city is not too hot and night time temperatures on Toubkal are a little warmer than winter. They are still often below freezing though – bring layers!!

Can I arrive early?
Yes, of course! If you would like us to extend your stay either side then just ask.
If you choose to arrive early or depart later than the stated itinerary then there is an additional cost of €70 for a private transfer.
Food and dietary requirements?
If you have dietary requirements and or food allergies, please let us know prior to departure. Moroccan food is excellent though not particularly varied. Breakfasts usually consist of bread and ham with coffee or tea. Meals eaten out are reasonably priced – kebab and bread cost only about MAD 70. In main towns, it is possible to find very good French and Moroccan restaurants where a meal and French wine are very reasonably priced from MAD 220 upwards. Generally, dinner is likely to cost between MAD 80-120 depending on what you drink. Bottled drinks are available at very reasonable prices, but alcohol is not widely available in Morocco due for cultural and religious reasons. But still, in some hotels and restaurants, you will be able to purchase beer, wine and spirits, but you will pay imported prices. Please be aware of local laws, believes and traditions, and be very sensitive and respectful while consuming alcohol.
Vegetarians can be catered for but there is a fairly limited choice. This is particularly the case in rural parts of this trip.
Vegans and those on gluten-free diets may find this region very challenging and may need to supplement meals with their own supplies.
Where will I leave other luggage?
You can leave any luggage not needed at the hotel in Marrakech.
To embark on the Mt Toubkal expedition, participants should possess a reasonable level of fitness, however the climb is suitable for individuals without prior experience.
